The Malta Individual Investor Programme (MIIP)

The Individual Investor Programme of the Republic of Malta provides investors and their families the ability to gain Maltese, and therefore European Union (EU) citizenship. Successful applicants gain the rights and freedom to live, work or study in Malta and/or any other European Union member state. n.b Due to the programme meeting its allocated number of applications, the Malta IIP ceased to be available in September 2020. The government has however launched a successor to the Malta IIP: Malta Exceptional Investor Naturalisation (MEIN) Programme

Qualification Requirements

 

  • Make a minimum contribution of €650,000 to the National Development & Social Fund
  • Invest in property valued to at least €350,000 for at least 5 years or establish a rental contract for at least €16,000 pa for at least 5 years
  • Invest €150,000 into local stock or bonds
  • Pass a 'fit and proper' test
  • Have worldwide medical insurance of at least 50,000 euros per family member
  • Applicants must have held residency in Malta for at least 12 months
